In my bag/ makeup bag

I've downsized my everyday purse a bit over the last month or so.  I figured I didn't really need a bigger bag since I mostly just stuff receipts and papers inside.

I've been using this saddle bag I bought at Target for awhile now and I can't say that I miss having a bigger bag.  Sure, I can't stuff my water bottle and lunch in there but that's why we bag lunch boxes.  A couple of things you must know about me before we dig in my very personal purse is that 1) I'm always in a rush in the mornings; 2) I'm a germaphobe; and 3) you'll never know how dry your lips are until you realize you forgot your purse at home along with your wallet and phone (happened to me yesterday).

So here is a peek inside my purse:

1st row (from L to R): Makeup bag (Target's Summer Beauty Bag freebie); eco-friendly and PVC-free Fleurville wallet from my diaper bag carrying days; purse from Target

2nd row: i-Phone; earbuds (these are a lifesaver! I cannot focus at work without them!); eye drops (curse my perpetually dry eyes!); floss (floss picks have nothing against an old fashion mint string); Aveeno Daily Moisturizing lotion - unscented (I wash my hands a lot); toothbrush and toothpaste (old habit from my years of wearing braces); Sharpie fine point pen; anti-bacterial hand & face wipes (for cleaning my three-year old and wiping down surfaces)

 

And now inside my makeup bag...

Yes, I stuffed the heck out of that thing!

1st row: Neautrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock with SPF 70 (it smells so good that I want to reapply this sunblock); Peter Thomas Roth Mega-Rich Body Lotion (another lotion that smells delicious!); mark. Cheat Sheet Shine Blotters (oil blotting sheets from mark. that have sadly been discontinued); Target makeup bag 

2nd (middle) row: Too Faced Natural Kiss Lip Color palette; orange nail file for nail breakage; Burberry Brit Sheer eau de toilette roll-on (for those days when I run out the door without putting any perfume on); Arquiste L'Etrog perfume vial sample that I got in one of my Birchboxes (love the scent)

3rd row: Stila Glamoureyes Mascara (for when I don't have time to put mascara on before stepping out of the house); Stila #6 Lip Brush (I seriously love this lip brush! The cap can be pulled off and connected to the lip brush to make it a full size handle lip brush - amazing!); various lip glosses/ lip crayons/ lipsticks and lip balms (three lip balms!); hair ties; hair pins

A recent Birchbox survey found that that more than half the women surveyed had at least 3 lip products in their purse at all times.  As you can see, I'm way past the minimum!  I counted 14 above and I'm not sure why I carry so much but I blame it on my "always be prepared" mentality.  You never know which color you might need to match the outfit of the day.  Plus, I like to layer my lip color sometimes, too.
